NF Shenandoah Trout Fishing (VA – Blue Hole)

With stocking season underway, at some point the VDGIF will visit the North Fork of the Shenandoah above Fulk’s Run.  The key landmark at the upper end of the river just downstream from the junction of the German River is a location known as the Blue Hole.

A few years ago, I swung by after fishing the German River to see what it was all about. This is a popular place to stock and other than the fact that it was right next to the road, it looked pretty good. There is a consistent rocky bottom with a decent amount of water in the spring when the fish are inserted. Robin told  that this turns into a gravel of water by the late summer, so focus your fishing in this area when the water is higher.

Getting There: From Fulks Run, VA, continue north on Rt.259 that parallels the North Fork.Turn left on Blue Hole Road and drive the short distance to the spot.
