Izaak Walton Pond Trout Fishing (MD – Trout)

Also known as Lake Halcyon, the small Izaak Walton Pond sits at the edge of Muddy Branch Road. The hours are erratic, limited and may change without notice. However, the lake is easily accessible along the southern shoreline via the high berm overlooking the water.

The rest of the shore contains enough brush and small trees to restrict access. There are minimal facilities, no dogs or alcohol and the lake closes at sunset.

This small 2 acre pond receives a dump of 955 fish to clock in at 478 fish/acre.  Another spot with great odds for a kid!  The only negative is that there are some congested spots on the shoreline.

Getting There: From I-270, take exit 9 for I-370W/Sam Eig Highway. Turn right onto Diamondback Drive. Turn right onto Muddy Branch Road. After passing the entrance on Conservation Lane, make a U-turn and drive back to the pond.

Access Point: Parking lot at the pond (39.120869,-77.217371)

Secrets Revealed? No. This is a very public location that is documented in the Maryland DNR stocking plan.
