Take a smallmouth break right next to the C&O towpath.

Got time? Head to the Cheat!
The closer to Big Bend Campground, the poorer the water becomes for smallies
Tough bushwhacking, tight stream, hard fishing
Is there any spot on the Cheat that is not pristin
This has potential
I’ve concluded I am not a fan of the Williams Riv
The river looks pretty good and is easy to get to
Just upstream of Ketterman is great trout / smallmouth water
FR 49 is the middle access point to the Catch and Release section of the Shavers Fork
Wait for stocking and then visit the Williams – but… it is “road fishing”
It’s a long drive to the Slaty Fork of the Elk… but worth it.
A bumpy ride has a happy ending on great water!
The C&R section of the Cherry produces some nice late afternoon trout
Second creek winds it’s way through a gentle valley.
Get a bike to maximize your visit to the Cranberry!
smallmouth, bass, west virginia, south branch potomac,
south branch, trout
Dead acid water…. but, it was pretty to look at!
Stop #1 on the South Branch
This spot has some potential
Trout Run is a small, disappointing creek on the eastern edge of West Virginia
Waites Run was a trickle of water that got more scenic the farther south I drove
I’m a sucker for any road with the name “River Road”.
The South Branch has miles and miles of great looking water! The agony is, “Where to start?”
Glade Creek is a nice spot for a quickie fishing fix just off I64
Looks like a good place to let your spouse and kids sprawl on the beach while you fish a bit
The Stony River joins the North Branch near the upper Wallman Parking lot. It looks good on the map, but the reality was disappointing
Super river – plenty of smallmouth action
This appears to be a hidden treasure
