Every time I go through Burlington, West Virginia, I get a kick out of this sign. While all will appreciate the humor associated with combining two operations that do not normally go together, it’s really a classic example of thinking out of the box.
The very nature of fire and rescue involves plenty of water – so I’m sure that the large building that houses the operation probably has to have plenty of water capacity if they have tank trucks they have to fill up to support field operations. It’s a natural that they would run a pipe over to the east corner of the building and drop a coin-operated car wash there.
I’m sure that any money made at the Car Wash goes to fund the Fire and Rescue operation. Great idea! So, after you get your chuckle, pull off and wash your car/truck.
