It all starts with a zinger. I just cut the correct end of the velcro to match the two ends.

After losing two boxes of flies, I had to come up with a solution. The problem is me. When changing flies, I’ll take out the box and put it on the bank; forgetting to return it to my pocket when ready to move. Alternatively, I’ll just leave the vest pocket open and the dang thing will slip out when I am climbing over rocks to get to that “good spot”.
Geez. Probably lost 100 bucks worth of flies – those things are not cheap.
The solution is to velcro them in. I had the Basswife sew a strip of velco to the inside of my vest. Then, I attached the velcro to a zinger and another to the fly box. Viola! The zinger keeps me from walking away from a box and when it bangs on my leg reminds me to zip the dang pocket. Caution – the velco will not keep these things in place forever – it’s only a first line of defense.

Velcro the back of the box. Your choice on attaching the big or small end to the box. The other goes to the velcro in the pocket.
