Ever clean your Trolling Motor?  Not me.  Knew that we theoretically had to do this, but never really thought about it until my wife’s line wrapped around the prop.  That got me to thinking about seals and how I really did not want to buy a new motor.  The small one I had worked just fine it’s a Minn Kota Trolling Motor

So, when we got home, I popped it on the workbench and was pleased to discover that this is not a complex task at all as you can see from the discussion below.

Weather looking good for this weekend – I’ll be after those basses again.

Pretty simple.  Grab a socket and remove the nut holding the prop onto the motor housing

Carefully clean the line that has wound itself around the housing – check to be sure it has not cut into the seal where the shaft enters the motor.  If it has, you will probably end up with a short when water finds its way into the motor
