Easy to Read Virginia Stocking Results

Virginia has concluded the spring stocking program.

Virginia posts their stocking week by week making it impossible to see when various streams have been reloaded unless you click on every week since last October.

I want to know when stocking has happened but do not want to show up the same weekend as the stocking and enjoy the crowds.  I prefer going a week or two after when the crowd has moved on to the next spot.  In addition, since so many streams get cleaned out or do not support a year round population of trout, I do not want to visit one until it has been stocked.

To solve the problem, I created a program that scans the Virginia input and assembles the results into two files. Some of the streams may be the same, but VDGIF may have typed them differently.  These collections may not be 100% accurate since I did not take the time to address every variation and situation, but they should be close.

The first is the summary.  It lists each unique stream name as typed in by the VDGIF and which month(s) it was stocked.  Use this table to confirm that your stream was stocked and keep track of how many times it was visited by the truck.

Please note that the summary does not make a distinction based on COUNTY.  So a stream may appear to get far more stockings that listed in the official table - but all I am counting is the name, not the county/name.

To see the detail, look at the detail file.

The second is the detailed listing.  It shows every stream and the date it was stocked.  It's alphabetical by stream so you can see when the stream was last visited by the truck.
